College Avenue Closing

College Avenue Closing

January 13, 2026

If you have driven through downtown Bloomington recently, you've likely seen the progress being made on the new Bloomington Convention Center at 3rd Street and College Avenue.  The project is scheduled for completion in early 2027.

Last month The Herald-Times announced a road closure for South College Avenue beginning Monday, January 26.  Both the road and sidewalk will be closed at 3rd Street, going south, to the 2nd Street stoplight.  The closure is expected to run until Thursday, February 12.  The closure will allow for the installation of a skywalk between the existing convention center and new facility.

If you are planning to visit our office, please consider other options:

  • From the west - Use 2nd Street to come to South College Avenue, and turn right at the stop light.  You may also use 1st Street, although that has more stop signs.
  • From the north - Consider taking Rogers Street instead of College Avenue.
  • From the east - Use 2nd Street or Hillside Avenue, then adjust your route based on location.
  • From the south - Travel should not be impacted.

After February 12 (and barring any challenges), South College Avenue will open to one lane of traffic until the end of June.  This will likely cause traffic challenges, so please plan ahead.

If you have concerns about travel to the office, please do not hesitate to reach out.
